Earn and Save with Solar PV

Solar PV is the perfect solution for your business.  Not only will it bring the cost of your elecrtricity down considerable (depending on the size of system you choose) but also earn you cash back that gives you a Return on Investment potentially around 10-12+%.

The Feed-in-Tariff  (FIT), which is a government led incentive, offers generous cash back and is secure for 25 years.  Better still, the FIT is index linked so increases year on year with inflation.  Consider too the increase in fuel prices.  Combined with a small amount of money for exporting electricty to the National Grid it is clear to see that the return is an incredibly secure investment.

As an example*:

For an installed system of 9.9KW: (approx 50 panels) on a south roof:

  • Will produce 8472KW/h per year
  • This is an annual Carbon Saving of 4.48t CO2
  • Will save you £678 pound on current electricity bill (based on 80% usage)
  • Will pay a further £3058 under the Feed-in-Tariff (cash back)
  • Will Pay £51 for exporting to the National Grid

That’s a total of £3787 annual cost saving per year.

Over 25 Years- a total of £135,078

Please see our FAQ for more details on Feed-in-Tariffs.

The FIT also offers landlords an excellent opportunity to get an excellent yield from their buildings- even if occupied by paying tenants.  FIT can be paid direct to the landlord.

* Based on an Estimated SAP report: Assumes 10pence for current per Kw/h, 80% usage and 20% export from self generated Solar PV electricity, retrofit under 10KW system @36.1pence and 3pence export, 3% RPI, 6% increase in energy costs

Consuming what you generate

Solar PV makes perfect sense for councils, schools and business owners because these properties will be consuming electricity all day long.  This may be lights, computers, machinery, etc.

For a national electrical grid connected system, the electricity generated from your solar PV system will always be used in the building first assuming there is something drawing switched on that requires power. Any surplus power not required will be exported back to the national grid.

Evaluating what proportion of the self generated electricity that you expect to use in your building is an important element when estimating the potential revenue you might expect to receive. The amount available will depend on the size of PV system and your expected daytime summer electricity demand.
